Default How to secure against bulk mailers!
Hi,

Does any one have any good ideas on how to suspend from bulk mailers? TP has alreayd contacted me saying they have got spam reports against my server. I was thinking about just disabling the mail function in php.ini but am wondering if that will mess with phpbb and other forums. Just wondering if there was any other ways. Im using xPanel to host accounts.

Thanks
Jeff

phpBB allows the admin to use an external mail server from what I remember.....I'd say kill mail()

You almost have to disable the mail function if you are going to do free webhosting. I'd say just nuke the ability to send email on the server completely so there is no way to send spam.

dont give out email accounts, hire an admin to completely lock down the server, and if you like, the obvious one, kill mail totally.

I have to ask... What "extra security features" did you add exactly?

Well I guess they arn't anything special just the SMTP tweak, disabling "Nobody" from sending mail, some spam patchs for exim and it has done the trick well. Also running php safemode.
