Talking Site opinions?
Howdy everyone!

Could someone here give me opinions on some of my sites? I host them myself, and have taken some pride in that

http://jukebox.nagetech.com
http://journal.nagetech.com
http://pics.nagetech.com

http://www.riccruz.com

The last site is my buddies, and I'm sure he'd like to hear some feedback!

Thanks in advance everyone! Love the Forum.

for one thing they all seem extremely slow at laoding.

they all look very normal. The pics one uses a standard mg2 template and the e107 powered website looks ok but maybe a but too dark. Also the background image doesn't appear to line up.

The jukebox one, well there is only a login and i don't want to register.

they all look fine but slow loading and they all look dark, maybe introduce some lighter colours.

the riccruz.com is the best for design but the slowest to load. if you want to keep visitors move to a better server fast!! you will loose a lot of guests from a slow server.

dave.

p.s. i'm from england and the riccruz took over 2 minutes to load on broadband and the others were about 30 sec -1minute.

It's extremely slow because you know why? I traced the ISP of that site and I see you're using Optimum Online Cable. I'm guessing with OOL boost & port 80? Or maybe Business OOL.

They give people 2mbps bandwidth for the whole connection... UPstream. So you'd think it'd be fast enough.

But what do they do to the port 80? specifically that port? they cap your speed to more or less the same exact speed of AOLs upload that they give dial up customers (around 128kbs) - Horrible!!!

Look online for Optimum Online and Port 80 capping with boost, you'll see what I mean.

All you need to do is reroute the port that apache listens on, I find port 81 works fine and loads at full blast. The SSL port 443 is also open so that's another option.

I host a server on OOL as well with the boost package - you have got to move the port over and serve your site on there. then it will be fine.

Howdy!

They upgraded everyone to an uncapped port 80, and 5MB Upload! Hence why the sites are probably loading fast now

Thanks so far!
