Considering a free web hosting?
I you consider to host your webpages using a free web hosting solution, check out the free hosting offers.
Don't choose, however, the first copy-paste offer with 1 gb free space, 99.9 % uptime ( ), unlimited mysql, cpanel, fast servers and 50 000 mb of bandwidth [add here more advertising stuff].
Nope, go to the *oldest* posts and check out if they are still alive. It is also advisable to check if there are some limitations that were....ermmm...mistakenly omitted when the advertisement was posted here (such as a limited size of the mysql db or an obligation to post to forums of the host etc...).

Another good thing to check out is if the PHP versions of the webhost satisfy all of your PHP script's needs. Ex: MediaWiki now requires PHP5
Some webhosts also omit the fact they put a footer link on your site.

It's also good to check with a site like free-webhosts.com, which has plenty of reviews on almost all free hosts. It's saved me a few times.

There are many high quality free web hosts around and have been running since their incarnation. The post you made is quite incorrect, and many users of free hosts recieve a good free service.

Its not always that new web-hosts arent good and should be avoided. Dont go into any such assumption.
If it was like that, no free/paid host would ever come up apart from those already existing old ones. Everyone would keep going to the old hosts and leaving a better new one. There would be no competition at all. Remember when GeoCities was there? No other free webhost ever exisited, then came Tripod and other websites.
Give everyone a shot, put up a review and see...

There's two sides of that argument. Like said above there is the reliability issue and like you've just said, we all have to start of from somewhere.

Being a new host has given us the advantage offering a service to new customers most likely we won't be able to offer once we have alot more customers. We can reply to their support requests in less then an hour and we can provide them with servers hitting 1% utilization. Not alot of providers who have been around for years can offer that. Our users are happy and where happy everyone wins yay!!

Just because a post is new, does not mean the host isn't. Disregard the OP's advice, and if you find a free host that looks OK, go to http://www.whois.sc and run a check to see how long the domain has been registered.

If i see the words "must post in forum" to get free hosting, i dont care how good they are, they are a waste of time. Just another community that you dont really want to be part of, yet, you are forced. Dumb idea really.
