Default Would you host a really simple business site on a free host?
My friend and I were arguing about this.

He said "no" 'cos to him, a business website has to have lots and lots of uptime(something he's doubtful of as to him, it's very hard to sustain a free host unless you do a lot of careful managing. But even then, he'd probably invest some money into a paid host for the stability.)

For me, I said "yes" 'cos after all, this is something I'm just trying out. After all, if the site never works out, I won't get bitten too badly. And also, some of the paid hosts have even worse support than some of the free hosts do(Sadly, I wonder why they even bother to run a business).

What are your perspectives on this? Darnit, I feel like a real noob. Oh and it's just a really simple, affiliate kinda site. -__-;; I'm not adventurous enough to dive into the world of "having shopping baskets" on a site, just yet. And no, the site isn't up at all.

You can just upload the website on a free host and see how it works out. I mean what could it hurt? The only problem with most free hosts is that their down more than paid most likely. I'd also ping the hosting company before I used them.

Best Regards,

Lifelesspeople.com itself was repackaged yesterday and cleaned up a bit. That brought the site down for a bit. The service itself didn't experience much trouble though so all websites were still up.

No, I meant this(probably some stupid problem on my end):

D:\Documents and Settings\Takaba>ping www.lifelesspeople.com

Pinging lifelesspeople.com [64.91.253.134] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 64.91.253.134:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Ah.. our firewall blocks ping and traceroute requests.

I think if you're wanting to host a business site you might as well spend a little bit of money to get what you want. We offer free hosting on the same network and in our same data center as the paid hosting, but the paid hosting is on separate instances or servers.

I definitely wouldn't host a business website with a free host!
