Default Offering Free Hosting cPanel w 24/7 Support
We are about to start offering free hosting on the side on one of our servers (limited number of free accounts) with our 24/7 support along with our paid hosting... but I am curious, shy of forums, where are you guys getting your signups & traffic?

Is this a good free package or no...

200megs storage
1.5 gb transfer
MAYBE 1 mysql database (still unsure - considering this becuase we want to be able to offer them the ability to use our Fantastico)
cpanel control panel with all the normal cpanel options..
Not sure about allowing an email account yet or not..

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We do understand the issue people are going to say about cpanel and we are ok with it using our lpanel for signups to verify users based on CC but of course with no charge.

noone will want to signup with a cc, and why not give them email/mysql, if you are limiting users manually this will use a tiny amount of resources

Your idea is great, but I wouldn't really recommend it. If you think about it, who are the people that use free hosting? Mainly people who can't afford paid hosting, and that would be people under the age of about 18. I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't want to be talking to a 10 year old that doesn’t even know how to login to cPanel. No offence to younger people, but they tend to want a lot of hand holding. If you let a bunch of them loose on a forum, they can pretty much handle themselves.

I can't see that being worthwhile unless you make $xxxx per month.

I completely agree.

At this point many sustain a free webhosting provider out of their own pocket for no reason other than they refuse to let it die.

It is time for reality to take a step into the industry.
